 What did they believe 

 Maybe what misunderstood verses did they use 

 What problem were they trying to solve 

 Seems a lot of it is to avoid saying something "not logical" or "not explainable" 

 What groups believed it 

 Any groups that believe it today? 

 When/how was it refuted  

 Etc.
