Adam as a Type of Christ
- Adam was created not begotten; Christ is begotten not created
- Adam was created in a supernatural way; Christ was incarnate in a supernatural way
- Adam is without father or mother; Christ is without a father according to His humanity, and without a mother according to His divinity
- "'The first man Adam became a living being.' The last Adam became a life-giving spirit." (1 Cor 15:45)

- Adam was a man who desired to be like God; Christ, while He is still God, became Man out of His desire to save us

- Adam disagreed and disobeyed; Christ obeyed to the point of death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2:8)
- Adam ate from the tree; Christ was crucified on the tree
- Adam reached out and took the fruit; Christ reached His hands on the Cross
- Adam savored the taste of the fruit that was good for food; Christ tasted the sour wine
- God called Adam "Adam, where are you?"; Christ called to God "My God, My God why have You forsaken Me?" (Psalm 22:1, Matthew 27:46)

- After he sinned, Adam was left naked; Christ was crucified unclothed that He may clothe us with the garments of His righteousness
- Adam sewed together fig leaves to make for himself a covering; Christ cursed the fig tree to wither because fig leaves are not a covering, but a symbol of hypocrisy
- Animals were sacrificed to cover Adam with the tunics of skin; Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed that He may clothe us with His glory
- Adam was tempted in the garden and fell; Christ was tempted in the wilderness and was victorious
- The serpent caused Adam to fall; Christ bruised the head of the serpent
- Adam sinned; Christ committed no sin, nor was found in His mouth any deceit (1 Peter 2:22)
- Adam was cast out of Paradise; Christ opened the doors of Paradise
- God gave Adam and Eve dominion over nature; but they lost authority over nature because of sin; Christ exercised dominion over nature, fish, animals, birds
- Adam was created on the sixth day; Christ was crucified on the sixth day (to renew our Creation)
